The One Hour Project is a series of paintings completed in sixty minutes using only the three primary colors.

The constraints are not a gimmick. They are the work.

One hour is long enough to make decisions, but not long enough to negotiate with yourself. The clock removes the luxury of correction and leaves instinct exposed.  Every mark must earn its place before time expires.

Working with only three colors strips painting to its essentials. Every color must be mixed. Every compromise remains visible.

There is nowhere to hide.

The project is inspired by the economy and urgency of early punk rock.

Three chords. Two minutes. No excess.

Like the first generation of punk musicians, the goal is not perfection. It is commitment. Energy replaces polish. Honesty replaces precision.

Most paintings begin on top of older paintings. Earlier images are buried rather than erased, leaving traces that continue to interfere with what comes next. Like walls layered with posters and graffiti, each surface carries its own history.

The subjects are people whose lives still make noise—artists, musicians, fighters, writers, revolutionaries, and outcasts. Some changed the world. Others simply refused to let it change them.

These paintings are not made to decorate a room.

They are made to interrupt one.
